We aim to close the gap improve access to culturally appropriate health care for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples living in our region through working with Elders, community and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health service providers.
To do this, our PHN funds a number of programs and services in the Darling Downs and West Moreton region, including:

Goondir Cultural Development Program
Reconnecting with country.
The Goondir Cultural Development Program offers participants an opportunity to reconnect with culture providing a pathway towards reconnection to country.
Participants are taken through a range of cultural activities and experiences including boomerang and didgeridoo making, cultural dance, story-telling and visits to culturally significant sites with the aim of improving their social and emotional wellbeing.
Who is eligible?
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples living in the Western Downs region.

- Aboriginal health workers.
Goolburri Early Years and Infancy Program
The Bunji Burris to Gunadoos service provides Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families with culturally appropriate antenatal and postnatal care in Toowoomba.
- inclusion of fathers in the early childhood phase of health care
- increased access and attendance to GP, midwife and antenatal appointments
- increased access to immunisation appointments
- opportunistic health care for women and their children.
Who is eligible?
This program is available for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families requiring peri and postnatal care with children aged up to five (5) living in Toowoomba.

An multidisciplinary model of care to provide culturally safe, patient-centred primary care across NSW and Queensland border towns.
