Cultural Capability and Inclusion Project Officer (Identified Position)

Under s25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991, this role requires the incumbent to be Indigenous to the Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Community.

About Medicare Mental Health Centres
Funded by Darling Downs and West Moreton PHN, our Centres provide welcoming, low-stigma access to mental health services for those in crisis or significant distress.

The Role
We’re seeking a passionate Cultural Capability and Inclusion Project Officer to lead cultural safety initiatives at our Ipswich Centre. You’ll embed cultural safety, drive cultural competence, and strengthen partnerships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.

Key Responsibilities
• Develop and implement a culturally sensitive framework.
• Mentor staff to enhance cultural competence.
• Implement culturally safe policies reflecting Indigenous values.
• Build partnerships with local communities.
• Provide recommendations to improve outcomes for Indigenous consumers.

About You
• Extensive experience in Indigenous health and deep understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures.
• Strong communication and mentoring skills.
• Experience in mental health and community engagement (highly valued).
• Relevant qualifications in health or social sciences (desirable).
