Head to Health Centres are changing to Medicare Mental Health Centres

February 25, 2025

Ipswich and Kingaroy Head to Health Centres are changing to Medicare Mental Health Centres.

This change is being implemented across all Head to Health Centres nationally as part of Australian Government changes to strengthen Medicare and increase access to free mental health services.

You will notice signage and the look of communication materials will change to show the new Medicare Mental Health Centre name.

Medicare Mental Health Centres offer people the same quality services that anyone can access for free. Services will remain free, open for extended hours, and you can access support without needing a referral, appointment or a Medicare card.

All Medicare Mental Health Centres will soon also provide enhanced services, including free access to a psychologist and psychiatrist either in person or via telehealth. More information about the changes is available in the Fact Sheet, or you can visit the Medicare Mental Health website.
