DVAC Practice Forum on Using the Level 1 CRASF
Domestic Violence Action Centre (DVAC) invite you to attend our Practice Forum on Common Risk and Safety Framework – Using the Level 1 Tool.
The Level 1 Tool is a screening tool designed to be used by any person who may meet someone who has experienced, or is experiencing, domestic and family violence (DFV). This Forum is aimed at professionals in generalist services, including but not limited to, health professionals, school staff, first responders, and people who work at Community Centres. The Level 1 tool will assist you to identify whether DFV is occurring and then provide guidance on supporting the immediate safety of the individual making the disclosure, including assistance making appropriate onward referrals.
The Level 1 Tool has a separate screening tool for children and adults and consists of 3 steps:
- Scan for signs: The tool provides a list of some common signs of DFV for which you should look out for.
- Ask: If there are signs that DFV is present, this tool provides questions for individuals to help build rapport with the person, and then to ask questions to identify whether DFV is occurring.
- Act: if the person or child discloses that DFV is occurring, the tool provides a guide on the next steps to take to support their immediate safety and refer to the appropriate agencies.
This Forum will be presented by a representative from Domestic Violence Action Centre and a representative from the Office for Women and Violence Prevention, Department of Justice and Attorney-General. Join us to learn about the Common Risk and Safety Framework and practice using the Level 1 Tools. Let’s work together to end domestic and family violence.
