Working with Complexity in Deafness and Mental Health
This full day, online workshop is for clinicians in Queensland Health, non-government organisations (NGOs) or private clinicians working in the mental health space. We aim to help you translate your knowledge, skills and cultural awareness into the delivery of sound clinical practice when working with Deaf people and their families.
Modules:
- Deafness and mental health: exploring the intersection of deafness and mental health.
- Therapeutic considerations: models and frameworks.
- Assessment considerations: use of tools and documentation.
- Working with Interpreters in mental health: an in-depth review including common mistakes, barriers, and challenges.
- Case studies: appropriate diagnosis and treatment plans.
- Consumer perspectives: lived experience and access to service.
All sessions are:
- Interactive and based on adult learning principles.
- Facilitated by skilled, experienced trainers.
- Grounded in the latest evidence and practice-based research.
- Underpinned by first-hand experiences of Deaf consumers.
